This classic Land Rover Series 2A Short Wheelbase (built between 1961 and 1971) is a highly authentic, mechanically sound example of Britain’s most legendary 4x4. Single-family owned for over two decades (purchased in August 2003), this vehicle has been lovingly maintained and preserved as an active, daily-enjoyed classic.
Under the bonnet sits the factory-original 2.25-litre inline-four engine paired with its original 4-speed manual gearbox. It runs exceptionally well and offers an engaging, mechanical drive. To preserve period correctness and proper ride quality, the current owner replaced previously fitted aftermarket rims with original-spec Land Rover steel wheels wrapped in correct-diameter all-terrain tyres. The vehicle has also been upgraded from its original soft top to a sturdy hardtop configuration for improved security and weatherproofing.
The vehicle is fully registered and licensed up to date, listed as a 2003 "Built-up" registration on the eNaTIS papers. The odometer displays 12,686 miles (with an estimated total true mileage of ~112,686 miles given rollover). It comes accompanied by extensive paperwork confirming its 2003 provenance.
Cosmetically, it presents as an honest, solid runner. As expected with an authentic coastal Land Rover, there is visible rust along the inner door tops and window channels that will require attention/replacement, and the current cabin features aftermarket bucket seats that could easily be converted back to a classic three-abreast front bench.
