This 1978 Volkswagen Beetle 1600L is a well-kept, highly authentic example of South Africa’s beloved classic Bug. Cherished by its current owner since September 2013, this vehicle retains its factory-original 1600cc engine and gearbox, showing 98,319 km on the odometer.
The vehicle is presented in very good overall condition for its age. The bodywork was resprayed a few years ago in a striking light blue finish, and the cabin was completely reupholstered in a tasteful brown vinyl with white piping, paired with fresh carpets, matching door panels, and wood-grain dash trim. Mechanically, it is turn-key ready: all five wheels were recently resprayed, a full service was performed, and the braking system has been completely redone.
Cosmetically, the vehicle is honest and complete. Minor points for the next owner to address include replacing the rear window rubber moulding (the vehicle was purchased with the window in this state), minor damage to the left-side running board, and fitting a replacement chrome trim piece to the right-side running board. The original toolkit and jack are not included.
