This 1962 VW Beetle is the kind of car that reminds you why these little Volkswagens are loved all over the planet. Finished in its original 1961-63 L380 Turquoise Green, running its original 1200cc engine, and showing 55,645 miles on the odometer, it has been brought back with real care and attention.
The car underwent a complete body-off reconstruction after being purchased in 2021. Once stripped and sandblasted, the true condition was revealed, and the owner chose to do the job properly. The body and chassis were rebuilt, rust was removed, new floor pans were fitted, the heater channels were replaced, and the chassis was treated with rust-proof paint before the car was resprayed in its correct period colour.
Mechanically, the original 1200cc engine has had a major service, a new exhaust, rebuilt electrics, and replacement parts including the starter, flywheel, regulator, wiper motor, battery, and cut-off switch. The car has also had a new clutch and pressure plate, brake work, kingpins, tie rods, and new tyres all round. It remains on its original 6V system, keeping the character correct.
The interior has been finished with charm rather than overdone. It has new seat covers, new carpets and mats, a period-correct radio, under-dash parcel tray, steering wheel clock, roof rack, and other era-appropriate accessories. Re-chromed bumpers and hubcaps complete the look, while the original jack is still with the car.
Roadworthy and licence are up to date.
A beautifully presented, well-sorted early Beetle with the right colour, the right engine, and the right feel.
